How did I become a Breeder and Dog Trainer?

I bred English Mastiffs 24 years ago as a backyard breeder initially. I learned the hard way about responsible breeding and stopped breeding for almost 15 years. I transitioned into rescuing and fostering dogs. I was training these dogs for rehoming for over 15 years.

I started therapy and service dog training just over eight years ago; I needed a service dog to mitigate my disability, so I asked Dreamdogz for help with specific task training guidance. In 2018, I was invited to be a contracted trainer working with Dreamdogz under my company, Holstein's Well-Behaved Buddies LLC.

I then worked as a Reputable Golden Retriever Breeder, helping as a Hope Service Dogs Inc. nurse, providing care for their Florida Golden Retriever Puppies until they were eight weeks old. I served Hope Service Dogs Inc. as a Board Member, Medical Director, and Secretary. I then trained Golden Retrievers in Gainesville, Florida, to be service dogs. I invested financially in setting up my home as the first nursery for Hope Service Dogs Inc.'s puppies. I delivered the first five litters for Hope Service Dog's organization and raised their first four litters until the age of 7 weeks old; I did this without pay or reimbursement of costs during 2018-2021.

In 2020, Dreamdogz became Heart & Soul Dog Training, LLC,  through brainstorming sessions while at a dog training school. We agreed to partner up together, and my company changed to Heart & Soul Dog Training Gainesville, LLC, the same year to share the same website. We even wrapped our vans to match, with our dogs featured on the Vans and only our phone numbers being different. We attended conferences and dog training schools together to further our knowledge of breeding and training, 2018-2021.

I helped train the board & train clients and did individual private sessions. I assisted with group sessions, service dog tasks, skills, and training for public access at the local theme parks with Hope Service Dogs Inc. and Heart & Soul Dog Training LLC. I did all of this without pay or reimbursement of costs. I also assisted in teaching service dog schools held by Hope Service Dogs INC.

I am grateful for the experience, although I received no compensation or reimbursement. I do not hate those who neglect to acknowledge my contributions to the abovementioned organizations. I hope they treat others who assist them in their organization with more kindness and consideration in the future.

Breeding Program Mentorship

As a dedicated, Reputable Golden Retriever Breeder based in Gainesville, Florida, we ensure the highest breeding standards for our lovingly raised Florida Golden Retriever Puppies. Our commitment is to breed friendly, playful, and healthy Golden Retrievers in Gainesville, Florida, that can become an integral part of your family, providing you with a trustworthy furry friend for life.

Breeding and Whelping Nurse services

Reputable Golden Retriever Breeder Dams and Studs from breeding programs that adhere to our high health standards of total health and genetic testing for the breed outlined by OFA, conformation titles, training evaluated, and temperament evaluated.

Costs are as follows:

  •  $1000 for the natural whelping (cost of C-section with Veterinarian delivery will vary and is extra). Whelping nurse transportation and assistance during C-sections is  $500.
  • The weekly care of a litter costs an average of $1000 a week and only covers daily general puppy care, assessments, and training for eight weeks for all litter sizes, a total of $9000 (including natural puppy) does not include expenses of consumables supplies, water, electricity, gas, and laundry services,
  • All puppy deliveries cost $300 a week for consumable supplies, water, electricity, gas, and laundry services for the 8- 10 weeks of having the Dam and puppies at our facility.
  • Boarding of the Dam (all Dams must be present for a minimum of one week for breeding and one week before whelping) Before whelping and during breeding, boarding cost is $300 a week, including frequent assessments that will occur during those periods. All testing is an additional fee.
  • The total cost for Dam whelping and puppy services alone is about $14,000.
  • The stud service fee costs $3500; this includes semen testing done before shipping. There is an additional cost for packaging and shipping the semen. All testing of the Dam must be completed before shipping per the contract. Shipped semen is for TCI or TSI insertion only.
  • Stud service in-house with Dam (Dam must be previously cleared of thyroid abnormality and brucellosis from a home veterinarian) for natural breeding is $3000, which does not include in-house testing (brucellosis, vaginal cytology, and progesterone levels), and boarding is an additional $300 a week if using our program studs. All studs will have semen quality testing for motility, morphology, and quantity in-house as proof of being proven.
  • Dam costs for breeding with outside stud semen are $300 a week for boarding (or $50 a day)  and $150 for testing of Dam and semen, plus $500 for TCI services.

The profits from the Golden Retrievers in Gainesville Florida's Heart and Soul Dog Breeding program over essential services costs, and products will go towards the Heart and Soul Breeding Inc. program costs of testing, showing, and caring for the program’s Dams and Studs to provide future Florida Golden Retriever Puppies and training for the Hero Program.

Why Heart and Soul Dog Breeding?

I have been where you are.

I am looking for a dog, maybe as a service dog prospect, a therapy dog prospect, or a companion (pet) dog.

It can be overwhelming to figure out where to go, what to look for, who to talk to, and which dog will be part of your future.

Like you, I struggled with separating my brain from my heart to get the best dog for the situation instead of the most convenient dog.

The breed is essential. However, health, temperament, and trainability are more critical. It is not about finding any old Golden Retriever Breeder, but finding one who knows what to look for because of their nearly ten years of experience training service dogs, over 20 years training, fostering, and rescuing dogs, and 20 plus years breeding dogs, who better to match you up to that perfect puppy and a lifetime of success.

People come to me with heart-wrenching stories, desperate for a service dog to help them. Sometimes, they had a great dog, an excellent service dog candidate riddled with health problems and a shortened life span.

Or the owner would struggle because the breed or dog they chose was not suitable for a service dog candidate due to temperament issues. After all, the breeder didn’t match the right puppy to them.

I knew there had to be a better way. A way to increase the success of people who desperately need a service dog is to provide them with a puppy bred and raised from birth to be the best he can be. I was uniquely positioned to set these owner-trainers up for success, changing their lives and giving them the hope and freedom they deserve.

I aim to breed the best - health and temperament are critical - because a person with a service dog does not need a dog with a disability, a dog that will live a shortened life due to a fatal inherited disease, or a dog that does not have to drive to work for the handler.

You can be assured that our team will make sure your puppy has the very best start possible with extensive environmental exposure, socialization, early neurological stimulation, early scent introduction, early handling, Puppy Culture®, Avid Dog®, NePoPo®, and more. In addition, your puppy will be set up for a lifetime of learning.

Not every puppy in the litter can go on to become a service dog. Instead, we do our best to place each puppy with the correct family, which includes the service dog candidates, the therapy dog candidates, and the companion (pet) dogs.

You want the perfect puppy.

Pick the puppy bred and raised by a professional service dog trainer, behavioral specialist, and highly educated breeder.

All of our puppies receive equal loving care in our home environment, not a kennel isolated from people, along with all the special activities and challenges that set them up for a lifetime of success with you.

As a Reputable Golden Retriever Breeder, We strive to provide sustained outreach and community services, such as support, information, and guidance regarding the rights and benefits of Service Dogs to the Service Dog community. In addition to Florida Golden Retriever Puppies we provide education to the public, businesses, and the disabled community can help to encourage positive experiences for individuals with Service Dog Golden Retrievers Gainesville Florida .

Heart and Soul Dog Breeding, Inc., through our sister company Always On Cue Dog Training LLC, specializes in training service dogs for PTSD, Medical Alert, and Mobility Support.

What Makes Our Breeding Program Different?

  1. As A Reputable Golden Retriever Breeder, we have extensive health and genetic testing to ensure our puppies are the healthiest and best they can be.
  2. We whelp these Florida Golden Retriever Puppies in a dark, calm environment because the low stress of the mother during whelping helps improve the viability of the puppies with less stress hormones passed on to the puppies.
  3. We start early with preventing early environmental causes of hip and elbow dysplasia by raising these puppies on traction-controlled surfaces to prevent over-extension of joints, leading to hip and elbow problems later in life.
  4. These puppies will be raised with love in our home. Next comes what we do with the puppies to prepare them to be fantastic for you:
  5. Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) introduces mild stresses to very young puppies in a controlled way to help stimulate the neurological system, improving the growth and development of the pup's immune system, cardiovascular system, and stress tolerance.
  6. Early Scent Introduction (ESI) improves the introduction to scent before a puppy can see or hear. It helps the puppy learn that scent has meaning, improving the adult dog's scenting ability (a must for service dogs).
  7. Extensive Socialization and habituation are needed to take advantage of this early socialization window when they are eager and ready to learn.
  8. Environmental Exposure, because it's not just Socialization but Exposure to different environments, helps the puppy become self-assured and confident.
  9. Golden Retrievers in Gainesville Florida are raised with principles from Avid Dog®, Rule of 7's®, and Puppy Culture®, which includes Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), the continuation of Early Scent Introduction (ESI) until the puppies are eight weeks old, emotional resiliency exercises, safe early Socialization, the enrichment effect, knowledge application of development stages and how to manage fear periods, puppy parties, puzzles, games, problem-solving, potty training, crate training, and socialization sessions, Problem prevention for resource guarding, separation anxiety, biting, anti-aggression protocols, and jumping inhibition.
  10. NePoPo®, which includes setting the puppy up for success using this unique double-reinforcement training system and utilizing Operant Conditioning and Classical Conditioning to get your dog to perform always on cue, with HEART and SOUL, which starts by supercharging the clicker with dynamite, we load the clicker so you can start training immediately.
  11. Crate training: You want your puppy to love the crate; it not only makes house training more manageable and keeps your puppy safe, but it is something you never know when you will need it (medical emergency, groomer visit, weather evacuation).
  12. We use potty pads, artificial grass, and pellet trays early on for potty training, then transition to taking the puppies outside frequently to make house training more manageable for you.
  13. Your puppy will be introduced to using a puppy door to access the outdoor play area.
  14. Our puppies are wormed with Nemex 2 starting at two weeks old and then four weeks old; puppies are given safeguard goat wormer at six weeks old and eight weeks old; puppies are given coccidiosis prevention at three weeks old, five weeks old and seven weeks old, puppies are vaccinated with parvo prevention Neopar at three weeks old, puppies are given a two-way vaccination at five weeks old and given the first 5-way vaccination at eight weeks old. The puppies are tested for giardia before they go home at eight weeks old.
  15. We evaluate the puppies from delivery onwards to ensure they are matched with the right family. Our temperament test includes the following:

  • Social Attraction - degree of social Attraction to people.
  • Following - willingness to follow a person.
  • Restraint - degree of dominant or submissive tendency and ease of handling in difficult situations.
  • Social Dominance is the degree of acceptance of social Dominance by a person.
  • Elevation - degree of accepting Dominance while in a position of no control, such as at the veterinarian or groomer.
  • Retrieving - degree of willingness to do something for you. Together with social Attraction and following, it is a crucial indicator of ease or difficulty in training.
  • Touch Sensitivity - degree of sensitivity to touch and a vital indicator of the type of training equipment required.
  • Sound Sensitivity - degree of sensitivity to sound, such as loud noises or thunderstorms.
  • Sight Sensitivity - degree of response to a moving object, such as chasing bicycles, children, or squirrels.
  • Stability - degree of startle response to a strange object.
  • Scent and prey response.
  • Trainability

Puppies may go to their new homes just after they turn eight weeks old. The puppies go home with completed Embark genetic testing (for the genetic guarantee), a Registered Microchipped, a Signed Contract, completed AKC Limited Registration, a helpful guide to raising and training the puppy, and a State Issued Veterinarian Health Certificate.
